Robert E. Caplan, MBA, CFA

Robert Caplan has been developing investment strategies for portfolios with highly appreciated securities since he joined FMA in 1994. He specializes in investment analysis and asset management, with expertise in structured settlement alternatives for personal injury awards; financial planning for divorce settlements; and investment strategies for portfolios with highly appreciated securities. His specialized experience is vital for clients facing these challenges.
His career began as a financial analyst with the Chrysler Corporation in 1983, where he analyzed financial functions at both assembly plants and corporate headquarters. He subsequently served as a financial analyst for the Pepsi-Cola Company, an assistant business consultant for A.T. Kearney, Inc., and a senior management consultant for Touche Ross and Company.
At Touche Ross, he developed long-term business plans for clients, analyzed acquisition opportunities, and restructured clients’ business operations. As the director of administrative planning for the Rite Aid Corporation, he was responsible for strategic assessments of new business ventures; negotiation and analysis of large capital expenditures; and the development and marketing of managed pharmacy programs.
Mr. Caplan is a graduate of Boston University, where he earned a B.S.B.A. in finance and accounting. He has also earned a Masters of Business Administration in finance, marketing and operations management from Columbia University.
He has earned the right to use the Chartered Financial Analyst designation from the CFA Institute. This prestigious designation is awarded to financial professionals who have successfully passed certification testing and have met rigorous standards for industry experience and professional ethics.
Active in the community, Mr. Caplan has served on a number of boards and committees. He currently works with The Foundation for Enhancing Communities (TFEC). As one of the oldest community foundations in the country, TFEC is a leader in working with individuals, corporations, governmental bodies, nonprofit organizations and private foundations to help them achieve their philanthropic goals.
